Khawaja Asif, Minister of Power and Water, addressing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Water and Power said that the Nandipur Power Project inquiry didn’t find any corruption in the project, but it was the incompetence of the government engineers and delay by law ministry that delayed completion of the project. The project had been approved for Rs22 billion in 2007, but ended up costing Rs58 billion due to delays. This also effected the national enquirer which resulted in a loss of Rs113 billion.
The minister also mentioned that design changes to the 425 megawatt Nandipur power plant has resulted in the plant producing more electricity.
