On Tuesday night, a broken conductor at Bin Qasim power plant plunged parts of Sindh and Baluchistan into darkness. Whole of Karachi was without power for more than 7 hours. On Wednesday night, a transformer tripped causing 12 stations to fail. Many areas of the city were without power.

The transformer tripped at 1 am causing Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Abbas Town, Azizabad, Yasinabad, Tariq Road, Korangi, Malir, North Nazimabad, and Mehmoodabad areas to be without power. Power was restored on Thursday at 12pm. Residents weren’t able to sleep the previous night because of the blackout and couldn’t sleep Wednesday night too. On both the nights they were forced to have Sehri at restaurants.

The All Karachi Tajir Ittehad has demanded K-Electric to ensure continuous electricity during the last 10 days of Ramadan. There was no power supply during the first 5 days of Ramadan, and now again during the last 10 days. The last days of Ramadan are important as Lailatul Qadr falls in one of those days and people offer special prayers. During the last few days, people go for Eid shopping and businesses don’t want to suffer any losses because of load shedding.
