The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s president, Ijaz Mumtaz, during a meeting with a group of exporters said that Pakistan needs to explore alternative energy resources to meets its energy requirements. Mr. Mumtaz said that the conventional way of producing electricity through oil was not sufficient enough to fulfill Pakistan’s energy demands. He said Pakistan should start producing electricity through coal, gas, and atomic energy in order to end the energy crisis.
Mr. Mumtaz said that Pakistan has abundance of woody biomass and organic waste which it could utilize to produce electricity. He said the beauty of biomass energy is that it can convert waste into clean energy. This will help address the environmental issue and produce high quality carbon neutral fuel.
